Hi Guys,

I have a Dell D600 Lattitude laptop that I have installed the RC on. Installation went flawlessly, no major issues with the exception of a few driver hunts

Anyway, I went to logon (out of hibernation) and nothing happened. No BIOS, No HDD Activity, just the green led power light. Thought I had a major hardware/motherboard malfunction. Decided to put the laptop aside for a day .... out of curisity, I booted it up to day and everything worked. I decided to do a shutdown and a reboot and BAM! no Bios again, no HDD activity, but the green led light was on. I decided to take the battery out and use AC only and BAM laptop booted up normally. The battery is brand new, bought a replacement from DELL a month ago. Put the battery back in... and laptop doesnt boot. Wierd!! Definite power issue here lol

I was wondering if it is actually the battery itself (2nd replacement in a yr) or do i have a motherboard issue? The Bios shows battery but sometimes battery will charge while plugged in, sometimes not.

Any ideas?

the only other upgrade i did was add another 1GB RAM... did a memtest and all showed ok.

thanks for the help :-)

Hi all...

Update: a very strange thing happened today. I have been using the laptop for 2 days now without the battery installed. On a whim, I decided to install the battery after the laptop was fully booted. Now it is charging normally, rebooted with the battery still in and laptop started without any probs.

this is a new battery, maybe defective?? Any theories?? thx

Try going to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network connections.

Right-click on the network connection, choose properties, click the power Management tab and uncheck both boxes.

You'll find a great deal of information by going to Start > Help and Support and type in laptop power.
