Literally, this happened twice, and I "fixed" it with a System Restore, after wasting time troubleshooting.
(Is this the correct thread for this?)
The reason I'm thinking it might have to do with the button on my HP laptop is that I looked at the event log. My reasoning is, absolutely everything that happens you can see in the log, right? And I know the exact time this occurred. I had just closed my browser and stood up when I saw the orange light come on on the WiFi key. And the only thing at that exact moment, according to the event logs, is a HP Mobile event, I forget the ID now, that showed WiFi disable through WiFi key.
I will ask that question in an HP forum later, I guess, but meanwhile, have you guys ever experienced something like this? My idea was DUST on the key, interfering with keeping contact, a quite physical thing. Somebody somewhere suggested to check for the WiFi card in the back, to see if it came loose? I pried the key loose to spray it with canned air, then got scared it would short out my laptop, and I didn't want to turn it off AGAIN.
And no, it wasn't the router. Other devices were able to connect through wifi.
It bugs me because it might happen again. As it did the day before. And I'm running out of Restore points lol.
