Win 7: Black screen on boot up, before login screen?

Yes, I have other accounts in that drop down. I am able to login successfuly. It goes to Startup Repair. This is the only option, I have for other accounts. It gives more options for Admin login.

No. There should already be an administrator account which you must unlock. Then you must erase it's password. Then save and restart. You'll need to tell recovery to boot normally and then choose administrator when prompted. This should be the normal -- not recovery login.

Is it after doing post #100 step?

Which administrator account which I must unlock? Is it through Offline NT Password & Registry Editor (ONPR)?

I did it after doing startup repair ===> same Black screen.

I downloaded Offline NT pw & reg-editor & put into USB

I tried X:syslinux.exe -ma X:

I did not find syslinux.exe in my machine. How do I get it?

Do I need to type "X:syslinux.exe -ma X:"? Where X = USB drive letter.

Do I need to do all the steps in instructions of Offline NT pw & reg-editor, walkthrough? or only selected few steps.

So I will be creating new Admin account, using above. Then ......?

YES! X is the USB drive letter. You're using syslinux to make the USB bootable!

Sorry. I got it. I will post the outcome soon.

It is not booting from USB flash drive. I changed the boot order to pick the flash drive.

Are there any other changes required to boot from Flash Drive?

I did that. Syslinux created the isolinux.cfg in my USB drive. It has 8 files + boot (outlook item).

I changed the boot order in BIOS to pick the flash drive as 1st priority. It is not booting from USB flash drive.

Are there any other changes required to boot from Flash Drive?

Normally that works. Did you run syslinux.exe -ma as administrator? If that's not it perhaps use diskpart to list disk, select the USB, clean, create partition primary, activate, format quick, exit

Then unzip again and run syslinux.exe -ma as administrator.

Yes, I run syslinux.exe -ma as administrator on another win 7 machine.

Do I need to do this diskpart on Z580 or another working machine?

I did the FORMAT of USB, before copying the files .

If I use diskpart to list disk, select the USB, clean, create partition primary, activate, format quick, exit, will it preserve the content on the disk?

Thanks.

Any machine should work. No the contents of the USB stick will be lost. The contents of the hard disk will not. You're simply making sure the USB disk is prepared for booting by syslinux.

It is still not working with this USB BOOT. I am not sure why. Is there a ISO version for this software?

I did with ISO file with USB earlier for patitionwizard. It worked.

I am able to work with ISO. I did unlock my regular Z580 admin & administrator account. I erased the password for both.

I restarted . It did not ask me recovery option.

Do you want me to use repair disk to do that?

The start windows normally goes to Black screen with cursor in the middle.

Do you want me to do

F8 ===> Repair Computer===> Command Prompt ===> Works OK

It goes to System Recovery option ==> Select a keyboard input Method (Drop Down)

Then it goes to System Recovery option log on drop down (shows Admin, defined local users)

Do you want me to pick adminstrator here?

Yes, It is same old story. Starting windows + LOGO == > Black screen with cursor in the middle.

I am able to see Administrator in drop down under F8 route now.

Do you want to continue today or we can re-group tomorrow? Thanks for helping .

If we have a chat session, it works better.

Update 8/23/2015

I am editing this post #119 for update.

I tried your suggestion of disabling all account except administrator this morning. I am not able to get to disable option. I find a checkbox before useredit option. After selecting the user for edit, it is not allowing me to go there. I did not find a way to disbale/lock an account. It allows to unlock a locked account.

I am attaching the screenshot/video for your review.

Existing start-up issue video (Black screen)

Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor (OWPR) - Screenshots

UserData Start (picking SAM password)

Userdata EDIT

You mentioned about registry corruption. Is there way to restore from internally stored registry backup?

Update 8/23/2015 9:11 PM

I tried the steps for win 7 command line as described in "Windows 7: User Account - Enable or Disable" of this forum to disable all accounts except for the administrator.

I tried via recovery console by logging in as Z580_admin & unlocked Administrator. Here is the outcome for both logins.

Code:
X:\windows\system32>net user

User accounts for \\

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Administrator Guest
The command completed with one or more errors.

Let me know your insight.

Yes. Re-group tomorrow. In the meantime you might want to try using the Offline NT Password tool to disable all accounts except for the administrator.
