I am currently reinstalling windows 7 home premium onto an SSD. As it has limited capacity, is there a way to move the win users file (with My Documents, My Music etc.) to my data hard drive?

Hello boz and welcome to Seven Forums.

This is just personal opinion and others may disagree or have others suggestions. As part of the Windows 7 operating system, there are four default Libraries: Documents, Music, Pictures, and Videos. It's been reported at various times here on this Forum and on other sites that people have experienced unwanted issues when deleting, moving, or otherwise changing the default Libraries.

So my suggestion is do not move or delete the Libraries. But it would be perfectly OK to create separate folders on your data hard drive to store the individual documents, music, etc you eventually accumulate.

Just don't save in the original library folders, add a location to the library for a folder on the hdd... ;)

The problem is with moving the User folders, so the solution as stated is to copy the User folders to the HDD, then rightclick each to link it to its related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums.

Once you click on each library to confirm it sees the data HDD folder, you can delete the contents of the C User folder - but not the folder itself which needs to remain since it is a System file.

You will also have to add a Downloads library for that User folder.
