Win 7 PC cannot see ALL Win 10 PC’s

Win 7 PC cannot see ALL Win 10 PC’s

Hi guys. Thanks for the forum and all the good people.

I have been trying all weekend to get my Win 7 PC to see all of my Win 10 PC’s. I would like to use the Win 7 PC as a Media Player.

On my main Win 10Pro PC I can see 7 PC’s on the Win 7 PC I see only 5 Win 10PC. Yes, the one I cannot see is the one with all the data I would like to use.

I have googled it – but cannot find the solution.

Any suggestions?? Last time I tried to upgrade the Win 7 PC it said it was incompatible????

Can you ping the pcs by name if not by ip thatsthe firs test. Are you using workgroup not homegroup as thats now gone

I can ping the other PC – let’s call it 124

Change the network to Work.

Still not seeing the PC 124…Still have the same 5 Win 01 Pc’s

Run this on all pcs you dont install just run NetBScanner - NetBIOS scanner


Does this see all pc and on the list it shows one as master browser which is it. Running on all pcs often kicks it into life

The Win 7 PC is updating….pain.

I ran the software on my main PC and got this:

PC Name Work Group Master Browser

1. Hells-Bells Workgroup NO
2. Dan-PC Workgroup NO
3. Acer-02-PC Workgroup NO Win 7
4. UD3-PC Workgroup NO
5. Acer-02-PC Workgroup NO Win 7 – not sure why it has the same name, but it has a different IP address
6. Ebay7753-PC Workgroup NO
7. HP Workgroup NO

Not sure why HP or Hells-Bells does not have PC at the end.

Here is the result from the Win 7 PC

1. UD5-PC
2. Hells-Bells Workgroup NO
3. Dan-PC Workgroup NO
4. UD3-PC Workgroup NO
5. Acer-02-PC Workgroup NO Win 7
6. Acer-02-PC Workgroup NO Win 7 – not sure why it has the same name, but it has a different IP address
7. Ebay7753-PC Workgroup NO
8. HP Workgroup NO

I have one more PC??

not saying this is the best solution but if you give Ebay7753 a static IP, like say, 192.168.0.11, you should be able to access its shared folder from the other computers by doing start>run> \\192.168.0.11\sharedfolder

Thank you for the suggestion. It does have a static IP address - 192.XXX.X.124


Can you explain:


by doing start>run> \\192.168.0.11\sharedfolder

If you press your start button, then select the Run command, then enter \\192.168.0.11\sharedfolder in the run command field, then press enter, explorer will then open sharedfolder on the ebay computer (assuming sharedfolder is the name of the folder on the ebay computer you want to share, and assuming it is set up to be shared).

similarly if you open notepad and type in just a single line:

start \\192.168.0.11\sharedfolder

then save the file on your desktop with the name media.cmd (make sure you do not save it as a txt file). Clicking on that file will open the sharedfolder on the ebay computer.

Great.... finally.


Now here is where I get stupid....it asks for my Username - I am not really sure what this is???


Password - I am assuming it it the workgroup password.??

I put in what I thought were the right words....seems like the network password is wrong.


How do I get the network password.

Username or
Password

Can anyone help me retrieve these??? Possibly from the other PC that can connect to ebay7753-PC??
