I have a Dell Inspiron mini with Win7 starter with 1 gig of Ram. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I did not use it for 2 months and when I turned it on 2 days ago, 22 win updates we downloaded. Now when I try to use Win Live Mail to download E-Mail from ATT.NET, I get a 0X80004005 error message. I tried to turn off E-Mail scanning but it did no good. Any suggestions?

go into Programs and Features and double click Windows live Essentials like you are uninstalling it, but instead it will ask you if you want to uninstall or repair. Do the repair and see if WLM gets fixed.

If not back up WLM with the tutorial on here and uninstall it and reinstall it and see if that works and fixes it

I have already uninstalled Win Essentials and reinstalled with no luck. I also uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials with no luck when I tried to access ATT.net mail

The 0x80004005 error is usually a result of a corrupted message
structure on the server.
In your browser go to your provider's webmail portal and log in.
clean out all the folders in your webmail. If you want to save
any messages, create a new folder and move those messages to the
new folder.
Empty the spam and thrash folders also. Close webmail, then try using WLM again.

if that does not work:
when you reinstalled the program did you have to make a new att.net account?
If no, delete the account, close WLM then re open it and re make the account
See if this fixes it

I have already tried this. Win Live Mail works fine on another computer running Win7 Premium with Microsoft Security Essentials.

I have finally fixed the Win Live Mail problem. I went to the windows firewall and brought up advance settings in the left column. I then brought up inbound rules in the left column.I then clicked on new rule in the right column.I clicked on program and then next.I clicked on all programs and then next.I clicked allow connection and then next. I checked Domain, private and public. Under name I typed ATT.NET and finish. It now works .
