Win7 Frequesnt Random Crashes

Ok I have this problem where my computer completely locks up no bluescreen no shutdown, nothing. Sometimes it just shuts off all of my i/o ports which renders my computer useless and other times it just straight up freezes.

It seems to happen more often when i have data being uploaded less often when downloading and if its idle the computer will stay running for about 8 or so hours.

but this problem is begining to get very annoying especially when im working on things.

I have installed the same version with the same dvd onto my friends computer and his works fine. also the it has never done this on any other os i have even had win7 beta in the past

I contacted my Motherboard Manufacturer and they want me to pay 50$ for an RMA but i dont think its a physical board problem seeing as just the i/o ports shut off most of the time and also before i shell out 50$ i figured i would get some advice first or maybe even get this fixed

EDIT: also i have all the most recent drivers... even the coprocessor driver and the bios is up to date

Also ask for anything ill probably respond almost immidiatley

Is there anything siginficant in the event viewer on or around the time of the lockups or the port problems (run EVENTVWR)?

The two symptoms may not be caused by the same thing.

Try booting into safe mode or [safe + net] and using it that way long enough to be confident whether the lockup problem is also evident that way.

The question of whether it happens in safe mode is very important in these scenarios. Knowing the answer can greatly cut down on the amount of troubleshooting.

Don't worry about uploading them. Just go through them yourself and check whether there are any relevant-looking events logged at the time of the symptoms. It's not difficult to do.

In my event logs there are alot of errors and criticals

but when i went into safe mode i did a 20 minute stress test with things that usually cause my system to lock up high bandwidth use ect.

also this is the second time im writing this because my comp froze withing 2 minutes because i forgot to close utorrent

ok here is the fix for 7001 Event ID 7001 Is Logged in the System Event Log
7031 explaination Exchange databases are not mounted and event logs contain error messages

the event id 41 is the most important. it pertains to the stepping of a multi core cpu. No fix listed but BIOS upgrade is helpful.

this would explain the random crashes easily.

7001 wanted to fix but ther is n netbios tcpip... wouldve uploaded a pic but i froze when i tried

7031 i dont understand the resolution

EDIT: bios is fully upgraded i even contacted biostar they said after i told them they were wrong. that they do not support windows 7. yet they have windows 7 (i think there called) SMU dirvers and it says all boards are 7 certified

Can you confirm whether the same lockups also happen in safe mode? I'm not clear on the results of your testing.

Problems which occur in normal mode but not safe mode are logically going to be caused by some part of the additional componentry which loads in the former but not the latter.

The MSCONFIG utility is a good starting point. You might want to verify whether the problem is gone (in normal mode) if you select the "diagnostic startup" option and then reboot. If so, use the "selective startup" mode to zero-in on the culprit by testing the effects of enabling some components but not others, always rebooting in between.
