Issue : Attempting to upgrade to Win7 from XP Pro
All seems ok except extreme screen coloration problems at 800x600
which is the only display setting allowed.
Under XP Pro SP3, on a different HDD, there were no screen issues
and the Monitor ( HP vx74 ) performed as expected.
A screen capture is shown at Untitled 1

I know the MB and monitor are capable of good color at 800x600,
but don't know how to proceed.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I trust that you have installed the Intel Graphics drivers. Or maybe not, since you can't change the screen resolution.

What is the native resolution of that monitor? The HP website shows it is 1024 x 768. Try setting the resolution to that and see if the screen quality improves. That is, if the machine will let you change it.

Of course it is an Intel P4 MB
Still running MSFT 6.1.7600.16385 with poor coloration and MSFT says that driver is up to date.

Have you tried Right clicking your mouse on the Desktop screen & from that menu select Screen Resolution. This should open a window where you can change resolution. There is also an Advanced link there that should provide some additional settings you could try.

I agree, I should see multiple resolutions. But only 800 x 600 is shown.
Advanced settings only addresses acceleration - nothing of value.

Try extracting the installer (using 7-zip), then update the driver by pointing windows to the extracted files. This bypasses the "minimum requirements" issue.
