Hi all,

i've recently done a fresh install inc SP1 of win 7Pro x64 and now the pc almost constantly hangs on shutdown.

everythings up to date driver wise etc.

I was aware of this problem on my older quadcore machine but had it very infrequently, this happens almost constantly on my new one.

Found a hotfix which i tried to install but had a warning say that "not applicable to my computer", i then realised that the problem was addressed in SP1.

cheers

Click on Start and search for "Performance Information and Tools"

Once the Panel open.. click on "Advanced Tools" on the left.

This would tell you what causes the slow shutdown.

If the above doesn't work.. then you would need to do sfc /scannow from the recovery console..

Let me know.

It looks like your Marvell Magni driver mvs91xx.sys is causing the issue..

Are you using a raid setup ?? if not you can disable this under Device Manager ... look for "Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller" under storage controller...

and check and tell me

Hi,

sorry!

Um, didn't appear to make any difference, in fact it go so bad that i done a fresh install. Added a new internal sata drive at the same time. No difference, in fact it seems to me that there is a noticeable lag even when looking for a file. Say i'm using a program that needs to access a file, i browse to it from within the program and nothing...... i can hear the all the drives going nuts but nothing comes up. The only way ii can get the program to lock in on the file and open it up is to go to my computer, open the drive where the file is held, then the green bar at the top slowly progresses and eventually the file will open from within the program.

all the drivers are up to date, windows is up to date and this issue seems to affect all the drives, internal, external, ssd, sata. Never had this problem before and it's highly annoying!

If you are using the Marvell Sata III ports try using the the Sata II ports for your drives instead. Set you bios for proper boot and see what happens. Sometimes Marvell and Asus motherboard don't get along when using Intel cpu.
