Windows 7 64bit Home premium problem.

This problem started when I decided to use magnifier in the system tray.

OS system boots up but then then screen is frozen until magnifier window shows up. I then can move the mouse and close the magnifier window by clicking on tray and closing window. This usually takes about 3 or 4 minutes before I can use windows 7

I went into ease of access and unclicked magnifier to start up with windows.
I went into the startup msconfig and did not see magnifier anywhere. I no longer have magnifier in the tray.

If I try to use task manager during the lock up I am given the screen that shows task manager to click on however all I can do is switch user and it shows My name as locked out. I click on it anyway and then I am back to windows. It does show cancel but nothing happens.

Sometimes I end up restarting windows as I end up freezing the screen if I try to use task manager more than once. I use CTL, Alt, Del to bring up task manager, however I just get the screen that allows me to either cancel or switch user. I cannot click on task manager

Get Process Explorer and find the process that's messing things up. Then check in "Services" whether there is a corresponding service that you can disable.

ballina,

In Control Panel/Ease of Access you will see a link to 'change administrative settings" It has a checkbox to enable things at the logon page.

Also make sure that if your mouse has an extra side button, it is not set to Magnify by default.
