Windows 7 boots with Windows Vista boot screen

hello,

I have installed windows 7 Home Premium on a Medion akoya E1210 PC.
The screen resolution is 1024X600, and i know that windows 7 boot screen does't support that. But is there not anyway to force windows to boot with the normal boot screen?

If you are talking about the screen resolution, right click on the desktop, go to "Screen Resolution" and set the resolution you want.

? How do you mean? 1024X600 is the maximum screen resolution value. So the bootsceen is Vista.

I do not understand what that has to do with Vista. If 1024x600 is the maximum your screen will do, then this applies to all operating systems.

OK, now I see. This is indeed strange. Can you post a full picture of your Disk Management. It may be that the Win7 BCD is sitting in the Vista partition.

MMm, I don't think that that is the problem.
NOTE: on this PC was Windows XP standard installed.

Indeed, you are right. Is there any other possibility that this Vista bootmgr got on there.

What you can try is to run a startup repair with the installation disc 3 times. maybe it can fix it. Note: if you have SP1, you will need an SP1 installation disc. It will not work with an OEM repair disc. ttp://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Run the following from the cmd prompt and attach the text file in your next post.

bcdedit /enum all > C:\bcd.txt

Do you have access to any bootable WinPE media that can access the cmd prompt, eg. Bootable Win7 USB installer or Win7 DVD?

I have a windows 7 CD that i have ported to a USB stick. because my PC is a netbook.

Startup Repair will fix that, I have that boot screen few days ago, when I was using BootUpdater app (customization tool for boot logo), and installed Windows 8 on another partition, anyways, that's another topic.

But booting from a Windows 7 Install Disk and repair it using Startup repair will fix it... I have that logo before now Its restored to Windows 7 default startup logo..

That is not a Vista boot screen, instead it is an alternative Windows 7 boot screen animation (16 bpp, 640 X 480) which will be used when your system does not meet minimum requirements for color depth (32 bpp) and resolution (1024 X 768) for the real 7 boot screen animation.

As far as I know there's nothing you can do if as you say your PC does not meet the minimum resolution requirements of Windows 7 boot animation.

Well that's good hopefully we won't need it though.

If startup repair fails then try this.
Open the cmd window and type one line at a time

bcdedit /set {current} BOOTUX Standard
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} GRAPHICSRESOLUTION 1024x768

Steps in case we can't boot. (Recommend printing)

First try a Startup Repair and if that fails do the following to reverse the changes we made.

1. Boot Win7 USB

2. On the first screen press Shift+F10 to bring up a cmd window

3. You can type notepad to open it then go File > Open to find the correct drive letter for your Windows drive which should have the Label BOOT.

4. Type bcdedit /store [Drive]:\boot\BCD. Example:

bcdedit /store C:\boot\BCD

5. Now look for the "Windows Boot Loader" entry that has the "bootux" option (should only be one) and copy the Identifier which will look like this "{bbc35bc0-e8d8-11e0-9656-bce3a505db87}" or might be "{default}"

6. Type bcdedit /store C:\boot\BCD /deletevalue [IDENTIFIER] bootux. Example:

bcdedit /store C:\boot\BCD /deletevalue {bbc35bc0-e8d8-11e0-9656-bce3a505db87} bootux

7. Repeat step 4 and look for the "Windows Boot Manager" entry and copy the Identifier.

8. Type bcdedit /store C:\boot\BCD /deletevalue [IDENTIFIER] GRAPHICSRESOLUTION. Example:

bcdedit /deletevalue {bootmgr} GRAPHICSRESOLUTION

9. Close everything and reboot.

I think you are right, i give it up. Pc works awesome, it was my 220 euros (even though my Pc costs 300 euros) warded.

Not solved, but ok for me now.

Ok it probably won't work if that is all the display is capable of.
