Windows 7: clean install asking for username and password

I decided to try to fix an older computer. My mom used to play those flash games and clicked on every ad, eventually leading to a virus. The computer would boot into safe mode but wouldn't boot regularly without blue screening. After some troubleshooting to resolve the issue I decided to reinstall Windows 7. I did a clean install and ran into the issue where after the initial reboot during the installation process it brought up the login screen. Seeing as this computer has never had a user name or log in I was puzzled. I read some forums and it recommended to try to reinstall again, which I did with the same result. I am beyond frustrated and confused. I'm going on hour 10 of dealing with this computer and thinking that a hammer would serve it better.

Its a custom built computer running Windows 7 Premium 32 bit.

I know there is going to be that inevitable person that asks: well did you try to put in a user name or password? The answer is yes, I did. I've left it blank and used every combination that I can think of, nothing works. I can't get past this screen no matter what I try and rebooting does not help. It WILL NOT let me go into safe mode.

Please help!

Additional info: The Windows 7 disk is a valid disk bought from the store many years ago (2010-ish). I have the registration key and the packaging and everything, this is not a copy or pirated version.

Hello and welcome Heather sorry for the wait but sounds to me you should have either cleaned that drive up somehow or installed a new one preferably an SSD.

Noe just how old is the installation media because they do reckon they have a bit of a shelf life .
But all is not lost you can either clean that drive and borrow a DVVD fro say a friend sand use this
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html in it you will see you can extract the version youneed for example Home Premium by using the ei.cfg removal (read this - Ei.cfg Removal Utility Lets You Use Any Product Key With Your Windows 7 Disc ) tool because the DVD's contain all versions of Windows BUT you must only extract and use the original version with the activation code on the machine sticker. For example Home Premium 32bit etc etc

PS sorry missed the year of the DVD but all the same make sure it has Service Pack 1 on it (SP1) if not it is a lot of downloading to get it and you cannot be without it.
If you get into strife then Greg is the master of this
