1) I Noticed that my defrag is set at 1:am every wednesday in windows 7 64 bit. I never really turn on my computer at 1:am. When I check my defrag settings it sayshard drives they are 0% fragmented, so when is the defrag actually happenning if I dont turn my computer on at 1:am I have 2 hds so are both drives defraged automatically.

2) Why cant I defeag the reserved space. It says 9% fragmented. What happens if it becomes more fragmented.

The defrag will happen sometime after the scheduled time is missed. Also, disk defragmenter can only run when the system is on.

It's instructive to run the defragmenter from a command prompt as it's quick and you get a screenfull of info.

Just click the start orb and type cmd.exe into the run box. Right click cmd.exe (it will be at the top of the list) and run as admin. Then just type defrag C: /U /V /H substituting C for a different drive if needed. U tells it to print the progress on screen, V is a verbose report on the statistics and H runs at faster than normal priority.

Just don't worry about it. It runs in the background and takes care of itself.
