Windows 7 desktop freeze then re boot

Hi I have installed windows 7 on my PC and now I find that the display freezes when leaving the desktop idle for a period of time. The only way to get back is to force a re boot to the PC. I thought maybe the installation went in wrong so I reformatted hard drive and re installed the operating system again. Re load my normal windows programs and thought all was well until it happened again.
So I thought I would look on the forums to see if any one else has a problem? Found this forum and now I don't feel so bad. I have tried some of the ideas in the above postings but still happens after a short period of time maybe 1/2 hours.
I did how ever look into system rating the PC in properties from the computer button on start programs and ran the system check. After a while the report on screen said Can not rate system at present Window driver problem! what ever this means? Maybe thats why we are having a problem with freezing? Help I do like Win 7 and would like to keep using it so I will keep an eye on this thread to see if any one has a fix? Thanks for reading Peter

Your nv_agp driver isn't running. That is for your AGP slot to work well. You do have AGP style video card, right? Update the chipset drivers for your motherboard. Because now, it's only using PCI to PCI bridge. No good.

And you have Bonjour on your pc. Recommended to Google on how to remove.

Another recommendation: Open Computer (Windows Explorer), click uninstall or change a program. Use this to remove NVidia 3D Vision or similar.

Update your Steam. Unrelated, but I see it crashed on you. http://store.steampowered.com/about/

There are updates for your Adobe Reader.

Use msconfig (because easier for you than Regedit) from start menu. Copy and paste that into search box, hit enter. Go to startup tab.

Uncheck QuickTime Task, Adobe ARM, Adobe Reader Speed Launcher, Google Update. Hit ok.

Thanks for your comments on my problem. I checked out my PCI Nvida 9600 and found that it was showing in the device manager as a VGA standard display. This is wrong and after checking it out on another machine I found that it was not working correctly on that either. I need to put back my old Nvida 6200 card. That worked okay for a while letting me update the chipset drivers from the net. Still after a hour or so the display still locked up just as before. I suspect a motherboard fault. I reset the bios to the defaults and tried again. Still locked up! The box is about 4 years old and maybe should be replaced but I think this problem should be found out. I will include a copy of the latest MSINFO and welcome any comments thank you again Pete

Install the driver for the video card from Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies

Use regedit to delete the key for starting up Google Update. Use msconfig startup tab (type msconfig in start menu search, hit enter) to find out where it's located.

Do the same for soundman.exe, unless you like that. In that case, you may keep.
