OmG! We are currently running Windows XP SP2 (64bit)..We bought and downloaded Windows 2007 premium upgrade...it will load up to 66% and then stop with an error msg that states files could not be verified, please retry..we retried 6 times. Looking at the error log it shows Error: 0x80070570...what's wrong here? Is there a faulty file and microsoft needs to resend a new product key or is it my computer? Our system is a Dell Optiplex 745 with 2.99 GB of RAM

Welcome to Seven Forums cammie
You could try taking out some of your ram sticks. Win 7 has been known to have problems with ram at install. Take out all but one stick and see if that will work for you. If it does then you can add memory back after install is finished and you have ran your Wei score. Good luck to you with your install.

My computer icon,> right click> properties, then in lower left, performance information.

That will bring you to the last score and a possible retest.

Welcome to the Forum

Provided is a link describing some problems and possible solutions:

http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/34853-common-installation-problems.html

In addition, disconnect everything except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
You may want to try to install with only 2GB ram.

Hope that this helps

Thanks Richard! Since we do not have the CD yet, and are working on the product key link from my microsoft account link, what would you suggest to do? We will take out the (2)512 Ram and leave in the new 2GB one if any other suggestion you have doesn't work. Thanks

Mixing Ram Modules is not always a good thing. Try just using the 2GB module first.

Since Oct, and the new OS there have been many problems with installing. I have seen more than my share working at the forum. In every case (the DVD are all the same) the problem resulted from a hardware issue (incompatible, not updated etc.) I am sure that it will be shown that is your problem too.

Maybe it may be best to start from the beginning. Take this test, from MS

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

If no problems are found, follow the instructiions in the posts,as provided. If all fails the next solution will depend on the new problem that you encounter.

One thing that I would suggest, is waiting for the DVD, if nothing else works. With the DVD we can disregard problems with the installation medium.

I sincerely wish you good luck. I was happy that I had no problems with my installation after reading about so many who were not so lucky.

Thank you for all the help today! We have removed the 2 512 RAM sticks and left in the 2GB RAM stick. The Windows 2007 upgrade still would not load past 66% so I assume we will have to wait until the CD comes in or Monday, when we can call customer supprt.

Did you check my earlier posts, I left a link that gave an example of being stuck at 66%. Did you give that a try?

Did you follow Richard's advice about the Windows Upgrade Advisor? Make sure your computer can run Windows 7 & the hardware you have is compatible! Also, since you are upgrading from XP, you will be required to run a clean installation- so make sure you back up your files and follow the other steps in this tutorial: Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows.

Cheers,
Tara
