I don't know if anyone can help me, but here goes. A few months ago I tried Linux, and changed my mind.
I reinstalled windows, all went well, and it boots straight into windows. A few weeks ago I booted my asus
dvd, and I wanted to uninstall a driver. I am unable to boot the dvd. When I choose the cd/dvd on the
screen comes ISO Linux. I don't know what to do. I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit. ASUS A85XM-A.
I posted on windows 7 forums about a week ago, when I opened ASUS files, and it was showing Linux driver, and the answer I received, was if it ain't broke don't fix it, because it is booting into windows. I
agreed with this until now, when I cannot boot ASUS dvd. I have just realised that TSST corp CDDVDW SH-224DB is disabled in the bios. I will paste my system info here, hope it comes through.http://1drv.ms/1XpYWjX:eek:

Hello Ethel again mate what is this mysterious Asus DVD you are try to boot?? We would like to know what is on this DVD because if ti is drivers you want then the net is the best source as manufacturers DVD's often are out dated (for drivers) when they are sold with the machine.

Now you also mention Linux drivers on the drive?? if this is so how did you prepare the hard drive for re-installation??

The disk did come with my equipment. My machine is a custom build. It is A85XM-A AMD A85x Chipset
Support dvd rev.1104.04. When you run the disk it shows you all the drivers, and extras like google chrome
etc. When uninstalling Linux mint cinnamon 17.2, I was unable to delete one partion. I tried everywhere
on the internet for help, with no success, so I booted the windows 7 disk, and let it wipe the hard drive.
In the computer it shows not Linux partitions. Something funny in the bios, which I do not know anything about.

Ok Ethel now I know the install wipes the the disk but as a general rule I always do a clean or better - clean all with DISKPART to make sure the disk is completely wiped as clean as when manufactured so no chance of any partitions or scraps to worry about.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html
But the choice is yours.
Now the BIOS what is the funny message/issue ?? I do notice it is the EUFI BIOS which is quite different to the old legacy type and until you get used to it can be a tad confusing

Your drivers for the upp to date ones are here https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A85XMA/HelpDesk_Download/

Thank you ICIT2LOL for replying again. Thank you for the instructions for the right asus products. I will
try the clean, and hope I don't bugger it up. The weird thing that happened with the bios the other day,
was I pressed F8 and it showed the hard drive disk, and the TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224DB. I clicked on
the cddvd and ios Linux flashed across the screen really fast, and then it booted into windows. In the bios
it is saying that the cddvd is disabled.

Ethel as long as you have a Windows media to install onto the cleaned drive from - and a machine running Windows to clean the drive you cannot muck it up.

How you hook up the drive to be cleaned is down to whatever you have access to. Now when I use another machine I usually and hook up the drive as it were an external drive to - or install it directly into another machine that is alrteady running Windows and it will see it as an extra drive in the running machine.

Just for the info if you are going to clean a drive with Windows on it the machine you are using to clean the drive must be booted using it's own C: drive first to save any conflicts when the machine boots up - it could possibly see the drive to be cleaned as the boot drive and boot from it if one doesn't do that.

To use an adaptor - is the easiest way I know of how to hook up as an external drive to another machine is using a USB to SATA adaptor see pic

Hello ICIT2LOL. I do only have my windows 7 disk. Am I able to boot the disk and use command prompt
from there? I am just scared of wiping windows again, as my internet connection isn't the best lately, and
I would hate to have to do all the windows updates again.

No Ethel just leave as is if Windows is running ok if you boot again from the DVD it will clean install all over again.

The clean has to be done before you reinstall or if you want to reinstall again. In your case it look sok to go. Just keep this in mind for the future.

By the by when you set updates please set the updates to "let me choose which to download and install" (see pic) if you want to avoid the Windows 10 rot. The update to look for and hide (right click on the update and choose Hide) is KB3035533 one to be avoided if you do not want to be nagged and for what it is worth 10 is not my cup of tea at all.

PS If you do not want to upgrade to 10 then do this if that update is on board Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums use the disbale download to your registry

No Ethel he C: drive is the drive that Windows is defaulted to run on so you cannot clean it whiel running Windows from it.

If you connect the drive you want clean to the machine thta is already running Windows it will be given a digffrent letter it will cease to be the C: drive it used to be if it had/has Windows installed on it. So it might be called D: or F: or whatever port it is connected to.

To make sure in DISKPART you have the right drive run DISKPART without the drive hooked up and see what disks are listed and then connect the old drive and then run list disk again and it will appear as a numbered disk. Disk is just the old term for drive. You then select that disk and use clean or clean all whichever you prefer the clean all does take considerably longer to do depending on the size of the drive.
