Windows 7 freezing on shutdown

Windows just started freezing every time I shut my computer down. It goes to the "Shutting Down" screen, the circle goes roundy-roundy for several minutes, and then stops. It does this on every shutdown, and when I restart it (after holding down power button to force power off) it says it was not shut down correctly, but once you start Windows normally, everything functions correctly - at least until you try and shut down next time...

I am running Windows 7 x64 Build 7600. It shuts down perfectly if you boot up in safe mode, but hangs even with all non-Microsoft services disabled in MSCONFIG. It hangs on shutdown on every shutdown, for all users.

I downloaded the Developers' Tools, and ran a couple of traces, which I will try to upload here. They seem to show a COMCTL32 process that doesn't stop (if I'm reading it correctly, which is probably iffy...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With lack of any direct system information COMCTL32 can be either legitimate or possibly malware (depending on it's location)
Malwarebytes running a scan with MBAM in safe mode with networking with the most current definitions should at least limit that possibility. (the free version works fine)

Ran Malwarebytes and it did not find anything. Did a scan of the system files - found nothing. Apparently the upload didn't work last time; didn't realize it until after the post went through. I'll try to post the trace again...

As a possibly related issue, something is up with the USB controller. The computer will not see my Canon digital camera (at all, no Autoplay, cannot open in My Computer, nothing...) when it is plugged into the USB port. Works fine on other computers, but nothing on this one... Could it be related?
