Windows 7 Home Premium - not responding -can't get into safe mode etc

Hi, I'm having many problems on my HP p6-2100 desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium now, the programs like Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421, Excel, is more and more often become not responding, tried System Restore but failed, showing "The restore point was damaged or was deleted during the restore", tried to run Disk Cleanup, but stucked on calculating space, tried to run Disk Cleanup in Safe model, but can not get into Safe model, it's stucked on Loading Windows Files, Loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\CLASSPNP.SYS

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is this factory preinstalled Win7 which is the worst possible install one can have of Win7, larded with bloatware and useless duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7?

That's why most tech enthusiasts will not run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything is provided in the blue link tutorial.

Could you check and see how much (Free Space) you have on the hard drive that Windows is installed?

Yes, it is factory preinstalled Windows 7. So other than do the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 is there any other way to fix the desktop?


I have 660GB free space on C drive, that's the only drive I'm having.

Work through the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which will check for infection, then check System File integrity from boot disks which are provided.

If you can then get it stable enough to function I would Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

However none of this will come close to comparing with doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. At best you will still have the worst possible install of Win7 one can have. Why not have the best instead?

HP typically don't allow users to create any more primary partitions without the disk going dynamic (ie. they use 3 partitions leaving the user only one). Users seem to often fall into this trap.

I actually do want to do Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, however it's might be really complicated to me...

Why is K labeled a System partition, and why is it marked Active? Did it's hard drive once have an OS on it? If it is not booting an OS now then it should be marked Inactive: Partition - Mark as Inactive - Windows 7 Forums.

Regardless of whether you proceed to repair the C drive or reinstall it, you will need to power down to unplug the other drives first for the repair or reinstall to complete correctly. Ask back if you need help with this.

I would also run one of the FREE Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List as if you are infected it may be blocking repair or detection in Windows or Safe Mode.

Then Try running SFC /SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot
from the Win7 disk or System Repair Disk.

It may need to be run up to 3 separate times.
