Hi everyone,
I've posted this before but have not gotten a clear answer. I wan't to create a Windows 7 installation disk that does not have ANY of my old files on it. I'm going to install Windows 7 on another computer other than mine. (And yes I have another license key) Is there any part on my hard drive that contains just the installation files? Any help would be great.:D

OEM version ( the OS pre-installed in the computer when you bought the computer ) cannot be installed to another machine. It lives and dies with the same computer it is installed.

The ONLY way you can install an OS to another computer is if you have a RETAIL version of the OS.
( Retail version comes in a box with an Installation disc and a product key )
Even then, you can NOT install the same disc in multiple machines... one machine at a time.

Example .......
Computer A dies, you can then use the same disc and install it to computer B.
You cannot install the disc to computer B if computer A is still running.

All win7 install disks (except OEM restore disks) are identical, any disk can be used to install win7 on any machine. One pays MS for the license to use the OS, not for the shiny 10 cent disk.

OP, once you've installed win7 on a machine or got it preinstalled, theres no cache of installer files on the hard disk that you can reuse. You need to have a generic install disk (borrow from a friend or locate a clean iso on the net). Also make sure that you install exactly the edition that you have the key for- keys are edition specific so e.g. a pro key will not work on an ultimate install.

It may happen that you already possess or are able to locate an install disk for a different edition. Since each disk actually contains all images, its very easy to unlock all the editions, then install the one you need. Heres how to do it.

Feel free to ask.

As you have paid for a license key, you can download a ISO of the Version from your Retailers website.
