Hi.

During installing Windows 7 at home i had a problem of very slow install speed. I googled and found many people having a same problem, and many of them solved it by disabling floppy drives in bios. However, did'n work for me. I stayed for 6-7 hours trying everything i could think of, but nothing worked. Eventually, i gave up.

Today, i took that same (new) HD with me to work. On one of the machines install was running without problems very fast. The thing is, i'm affraid if it's gonna work when i put it back in my pc at home. I ran the first part of installing system, which is creating a partition which will be C Disk, and on that partition i began install. After "Expanding Windows Files" computer rebooted for the first time. That's when i shut it down, and took out a HD. I was assuming that to that point it was just copying files to HD, and that hardware installation is coming in next steps..

Do you guys think i will be able to continue instalation on another computer at home without problems?

Depends on when you took the hard drive out. If it was right after the first reboot you should be OK but I think I'd use the imagex installation medthod just to be sure. It's designed for this kind of disk swap.http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/7943-install-windows-7-fast-without-dvd-usb-device.html

I'd say it's very nice tip for. After having so much trouble, any new aproach is welcome. I was hoping to hear that what i started is possible : ) Well, it's a clean new 1TB HD, with a 100GB partition created for C. Nothing on it. Like said, i started the install process and on first regular restart wich comes JUST after "Expanding Windows Files" i turned off the computer, and took out the HD, and will try to resume install in another PC at home. On old HD there is XP, but here is said your options is possible only with 7 or Vista. Well, i'll find out soon, in few hours, but i'm affraid of another sleepless night : ) Tnx

Also, for what it's worth, I find most slow installations to be caused by the DVD drive - switching to installing from a 4GB (or larger) USB key usually clears that up.

Tnx for support and tips guys. Before doing something else, which would first probably be usb install, i decided to try to continue install, and it worked.

1. started on on pc with only HD & optical drive on sata 1 & 2
2. at first auto restart, took out the hd and put it in other pc with just hd & optical on sata 1 & 2
3. started pc, and it just continued with no problems at all

after install added other hardware like more ram, old disks, graphics..

in the end didn't find solution for slow install on my pc, but was lucky enough, never saw someoone installing that way..

Thank you all for tips and assistance.
