Windows 7 Problem

I'm having a few problems with windows 7.

1. Every time I start up the computer I get a message saying that windows is preparing for the computers first time use. although not a big problem it's kind of annoying.

2. When computer starts it automatically logs on to the administrator account without any password or anything. If the computer goes to stand by mode when I wake it goes to the screen where you chose which account to log into. The only option is the administrator account but when I try to log on it says i don't have access to that account. I checked and the password is disabled for all accounts. Only option then is to restart computer and then it logs on to administrator account again.

Sounds like you may have not performed a clean install and there are a few bugs in the system, leftover or caused from whatever you upgraded from?!?!

That's what I suspect as well. Unfortunately windows came with the computer and I don't have the windows disc so I can't re install.

You can reinstall from the recovery partition - keep hitting F8 after power-on. You can also burn the installation disk from your recovery partition. Read the little booklet that came with the PC. It is probably explained in there. Every manufacturer does it a little differently. What make is your PC?

It's Toshiba laptop. I tried with the f8 method but when it goes to that screen it doesn't give me that option. I couldn't even make a recovery disc. It says that the info is not on the hard drive

Aha, Toshiba is a little special. Try this procedure:

1. Make sure the computer is turned off.

2. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard while powering on the computer. When the computer powers on, the Toshiba Recovery Wizard screen displays.

3. Select one of the options, and then click Next. The options are: Recovery of Factory Default Software (recommended) or Erase the hard disk.​

Thanks WHS. It worked perfectly and now everything works great. My next option was to send it in to the manufacture for warranty. Probably would of been without a computer for a while. You save me a lot of headaches.
