I've been having a problem updating my windows 7 professional 64bit for a while (Code 8007370B). I have tried to use microsoft fix it, the SURT, the SFC Scan all to no help. Reading the other posts, I believe it is a "bitflop" that Tom982 mentioned. Anyways, here are the files requested in the Windows Update Posting Instructions.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Spew

... as you suspected, they are the result of bitflips - about which, more later.

There are a huge number (over 2500) of errors in the CBS.log - although many are duplicates, either from different days/runs or from system retries.

Please open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\system32\config folder

Copy the COMPONENTS file (no extension) to the desktop now Compress the copy and upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site - post a link in your reply.

I'll take a look and see what I can do with it.

I've uploaded a file - sd9components.zip - to my SkyDrive at
Noel's SkyDrive
Please download and save it.

Now rename your existing C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file to COMPONENTS.OLD

Extract the downloaded file and copy the contained COMPONENTS file to the C:\Windows\System32\config folder

reboot
Run the CheckSUR tool again, and post the new CheckSUR log.

with any luck the report will now show only a few errors, which we can deal with in the normal way.

Ok, I ran the SURT and the sfc /scannow in the CMD prompt. Waiting for the CMD to finish and I'll post the new CBS. Should be less than 5 min

Looks like the updates took! So my main problem has been solved, though I am a little concerned that the last .gif I posted still contained errors. Should I be worried?

Thanks!

There are still some errors present - but we'll deal with them a bit later

Please do a manual check for updates and attempt to install any remaining updates, then run another CheckSUR, and post the new log (it's possible that the updates installed so far will have corrected some of the existing errors).

Also run another SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.logfile.

Restarted my machine and it did more updates, tried to update again, and got the attached error code. Should I run the SURT and Checknow again? or will the current log work?
Thanks

OK - the missing file list is now

but there are still some bitflips present, and a couple more registry problems.

I'll post the fix for the missing files later - and then we'll worry about the bitflips.
