Windows 7 Raid - Drives can't see each other

I'm trying to stripe two drives using the disk management tool. Both partitions give me the option to stripe them but when I use the wizard the other drive doesn't show up to allow me to raid to it! Both drives have partitions on them at the moment, but I was under the impression that this will make a raid partition rather than a drive. Correct?

I don't have raid controller loaded. So I am going to ask a stupid question.
If both of the drives are identencal (size, Mfg, etc) When you select one to match another to is any of the available drives match the drive you are hunting. What I am getting at does one of the selections look just like want you want in the array.
That is not very clear explanation. I am trying to say the selection may be there but looks like your orginal choice.

What Mobo are you using it may be a matter of getting the disks plugged into the correct ports.

Have you made both disks into dynamic drives and therefore partitions ?
it's the only way it can create striped volumes.

You need a 3rd drive to boot from.

Only the primary partitions can be striped using Windows Disk Management and one partition already has data on it.

You could try Intel's RAID (built-in on almost all their desktop chipsets these days) as long as disk space is below 2TB. Intel's RAID firmware does not support booting from RAID if the capacity is over 2TB, Windows/BIOS limitation.

If capacity is over 2TB then you will need a 3rd drive to boot from... and go either software RAID (Window Disk Management striping) or hardware/firmware RAID (Intel's RAID BIOS).
