Windows 7 suddenly goes into sleep mode, unknown error

I don't know if this is the right place to post this. I couldn't see where else on the forum I could post it, but I cannot provide a BSOD error code/info because there was none generated; there was no BSOD. What happened was that I had a few applications open. MSN, Firefox, Opera, and Songbird are what I normally have open, and they never caused a problem before. Then I had Google Chrome open, which I do at times with no side effects, and was playing Angry Birds. The link I used to play is this one: Angry Birds Chrome Then after about an hour playing, the computer suddenly went into sleep mode. It refused to wake up. I had to force reboot it. It was able to load up just fine after that. I looked in the event logs and found nothing helpful in determining the cause of the sudden sleep mode. The only thing I did different is playing Angry Birds. I don't know if it being in HD had anything to do with it, or if Google Chrome just experienced a glitch that affected the entire system somehow, though I don't know the odds of that. Another thought I had was the problem was due to a storm outside. It was raining and thundering outside. A friend of mine suggested the issue may have been due to a partial power loss that was enough to knock the computer into sleep mode, but not strong enough to cause a full on power outage. Has anyone experienced an error like this before?

What kind of system is this specifically?
It almost sounds like the system shut itself down to prevent damage.
This generally happens when you push the video card/gpu too hard.

...and yes if I'm correct the fact it was in HD could have contributed to the problem.
It's really hard to say for sure as you have neglected to mention what make/model computer this is.
It's even more likely the cause if we are dealing with a laptop.
if that is the case are you using a cooling pad?

I apologize. The system is a Dell Inspiron desktop, model number is INI910Nb. The processor is 2.9 Ghz and dualcore. The graphics card is an integrated Intel one. Volt capability, I think that's around 200 something, very weak from what I've been told. The system is a 64-bit. Storage is 750 GB, RAM is 6 GB.

For the moment I'm going to stick with my heat theory considering the lack of any data to the contrary.
If it was a vital windows error you would have received a bluescreen or a dump file, you don't seem to have either.
Have you checked the application logs? rightclick - my computer - manage - event viewer - windows logs

I'm unclear as to whether you just lost the display or if the entire system shutdown on you as well.
Loss of display only could be anything from the aforementioned heat to the intel graphics driver failing.

Yes I looked in Application Logs. At first I thought I found something worthwhile, something with Chrome.exe, but the time stamp is wrong. The error popped up about half an hour before the incident. And what happened was that the monitor went black and the orange light lit up. I was listening to a song at this point and that went silent as well. The computer's light was blue like how it is when it's turned on, but the monitor's light remained orange. Maybe it wasn't a true sleep mode, since my computer's light usually turns orange when it's in sleep mode.

It sounds like one of those (the computer has shutdown to prevent damage to hardware things) but since the screen apparently went dark first we can't be sure.

Is there a memory.dmp file in the root windows directory?
Sometimes those are written even if a minidump is not.

You are assuming sleep mode because of the monitor went dark. I'm assuming a failure or driver error.
No real way to be sure without dump files though.

Unfortunately, there is no memory.dmp file. I'm starting to think it wasn't sleep mode as well, since the light coloration was off (light is supposed to turn orange, not remain blue). I'll look through the event logs again to see if there was something I missed.

I saved some event logs from Applications and saved them in a file, with the most recent on top and going down. I also saved one event from Systems which talks about the Chrome.exe error, which is at the top of the other errors. I don't know how helpful this'll be.

The first link provides an .odt file. I use OpenOffice; my copy of Microsoft Word expired. The second link is to an .rtf version. It's the same file, just a different format. I wasn't sure if .odt would work, so I provided an .rtf version just in case.

Not seeing anything that would immediately indicate a serious problem.

Something you can check while your sleeping tonight is the memory.
Just let this

I haven't been able to try it yet because I don't have any blank USBs or CDs available, so I'll get around to buying more soon.

I wonder if Flash in Google Chrome is the problem. Is that a possibility?

I haven't played Angry Birds in Firefox or Internet Explorer, only in Google Chrome. So no, I haven't encountered the problem in IE or Firefox.

I haven't had any issues lately regarding Google Chrome and Angry Birds. If it happens again, I'll report it.

Okay the problem had happened again. This time it didn't occur in Google Chrome. Instead it occurred when I was playing a portable version of Neverputt, a free game I got from PortableApps.com. I had played 2 levels and was on the third level when it happened. The computer just went black, the monitor said it was entering power saving mode, and once again I had to force reboot the computer.
