Hi

Anyone got any solution for this problem...

-Windows 7 taking a long time to shutdown

It just shows the word and stays like this for a long time
-Shutting down..

So I need to manually cold shutdown my PC by holding the shutdown button.

maybe you should run a disk cleanup and memory check and maybe a defrag see if this speeds it up

I don't think that is the issue

I think it might be related to
-services

or some program not unloading/shutting down properly

I did research prior to this post..
I have done this already

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\
Highlight the value WaitToKillServiceTimeout
Change this value to 1000.

2 . Open the registry and locate the key{ \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management}, then change the value of ClearPageFile at Shutdown to a 0 IF the value is 1.

==

I think it might be a service or program that is not shutdown properly.

Have you tried using VERBOSE messages ?
I was curious, so i tried VERBOSE messages ...

I've used this by manually editing the registry, it does give more info that might help you pinpoint the long delay ...
It hasn't caused me problems, and i do see a difference in "wait time" after applying patch tuesday updates vs. normal shutdown/restart.

Yeap

I tried that as well but the messages aren't that specific..for each service or program

So it is not verbose enough...

All it says is

-Shutting down services
but it does not display each service (unlike Linux which shows each service/program)

Then

Shutting down...

So it still does not help me identify what program/service is causing the shutdown problem...
