And that is a problem why? win 7 usually has far more processes than that, and it puts some of its memory in a fast cache for when you need it.

It is perfectly normal

Stop looking at your memory or CPU usage until you have a problem.
Honestly, I'm getting tired of seeing post like this all the time, its getting annoying.

Using less memory does not make the computer faster.

No it will not run faster unless you require applications that demand more memory...
I've been running on 2 GBs since 2007, had XP, Vista, and now 7 on this very same computer without issue.

Its perfectly normal for Win7 to use about 1.3GB of RAM when idle

Should i add 2 gb of ram more becase i only have 2 gb. Will it run faster!!!
You could add more but since 32-bit OS can only address up to 3.25GB of RAM you will need to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 to use all your RAM

A reinstall would be better since if you want to upgrade to 4GB+ in the future it will save you from a reinstall later

With all due respect logicearth, you make me laugh. Why? Because you sound very comfortable, contended with what you have.

I do? Well I am even tho I want more. But this computer I have cannot go beyond 2 GB so I have to be content with what I have. Until I get to building my new computer. However, from mer personal experience, trying to save RAM for a rainy day is a waste.
