So I have searched this forum diligently (and Microsoft's website), downloaded multiple scripts and FixIt-ers, and have had absolutely no luck. This is killing me! I am stuck needing 93 files updated, and for some reason I cannot use the run/cmd program to install Automatic Updates (It is missing from services.msc). I am really stuck, and I normally don't get stuck. This is why I need your help.

Is there any other information I need to give you? I'm using a Sony Vaio EA290X. I use Ccleaner if that helps... Last time I got updated was over a month ago. Thanks so much for your help.

it must have been a combination of following all of the advice everyone here said to do and repeatedly restarting my computer. things helped chip off the large 93 download list and everything probably helped some. Wish I could give more information. I can say this: your advice totally worked. Thanks!
