Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to create usb boot Problem

I have been trying to burn an .ISO file to a usb flash drive without success. The usb sandisk is recognized with all programs except the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool. The tool fails when clicking the "usb device" button. Message says "No compatible usb device detected".

Is it possible to create a bootable usb flash drive/stick/pen/etc using Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool????

If so, what compatibility feature is it looking for and not finding? Screen snips are available if needed.

That link is only for win 7 and win 8 64bit systems.

I am working on a win 7 64 bit system only for the purpose of creating a bootable iso for win Vista to reload my other machine that has a new HDD.

Other thoughts? Will Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool able to do this work or not?

You can`t burn an iso of Vista just like 7, there are more steps involved.

Google it or go the the Vista forums.

Thanks for the reply. I have already used all those steps to create a Vista .iso file and also downloaded (from DigitalRiver) the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. That tool is "supposed" to burn .iso files to usb or dvd, including Vista .iso files.

It fails in step 2 when clicking the "Burn USB" button with the error message "No compatible USB device detected". My USB flash/thumb/etc drive is detected and works with all other attempted programs. I can format it and drag-and-drop files onto it, run programs from it, etc etc etc.

My issue is Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool does not recognize the drive as a "compatible" drive. What is it looking for as a compatible drive and how can I make it "compatible"?????
