Hi there,

i recently installed Windows 7 on a Dell Vostro 1310 Laptop. Everything is running very smooth, no problems whatsover but one, which i just cant figure out!

WLAN was working like a charm. Could connect and use the internet without a problem. Yesterday i took my laptop to my gf's, and tried to connect to her router, but the list of available networks just wont show that one. It shows like ten other networks, but the one i need is not displayed.

With another Laptop (Vista) i could connect without a problem and good connection, so could i with my HTC Touch.

I tried manually setting up a connection to that particular network but it didnt help either.

Is that a common problem, or does anybody can help me in any way? Im really out of ideas.

Best of thanks,

Albert

hi Albert - welcome to sevenforums,

sorry if these questions are really obvious, but we have to start somewhere...

is you gf's router using MAC address filtering? or some sort of whacky security? SSID broadcast disabled?

Thanks for welcoming me and thanks for your answer.

If it were so obvious i probably should have stated them in my opening post :)

No, there is no security whatsoever, no wep, no wpa. The router is broadcasting its ssid regularly. All you really have to do is click on the network, wait 3 seconds and then it should be working. But somehow my pc isnt finding that particular network.

tried rebooting the system several times, didnt help either :(

sorry i can't help further - i can't understand why you can see the other networks, but not the one you want to connect to.

hopefully a more knowledgeable forum member will be on shortly to assist you further.

good luck!

If you plug in via ethernet to her router, does it work?

What's the model of the router?
