Sorry if this is under the wrong selection but my computers Windows 7 won't boot up. It has been working for a long time now until randomly one day when I try to start it up, it just takes me to a blank screen. My computer it set to dual boot Windows 7 and Unbunto, I can get as far as when It ask me to repair startup, and normal startup, after that it has a gray bar and says loading Window files, then it just goes black and nothing happenes. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the Ubunto works fine on my computer, any help?

Hi there
another suggestion

Try Re-installing GRUB (from your Linux Distro disk). Sometimes GRUB itself can get hosed up in Dual Boot situations.

After re-installing GRUB you should see your dual boot menu again - ensure the Windows partition is "Bootable".

To verify partitions are all OK (including the Linux ones) download GPARTED and boot from that.

This should tell you if your Windows Partitions are OK -- W7 should boot on a PRIMARY Partition (AFAIK) -- could be wrong here - although I've never booted ANY WINDOWS version in a NON Primary Partition.

GPARTED download

GParted -- Download

I found the problem, I think I overheated my computer broke again, Ubuntu just broke to. I think it is because my computers hardrive broke, I can't acess anything on my C drive but my D drive is fine for now. So I need to buy a new harddrive for my computer, good thing my old one was terrible.

Couldn't you have deleted your partitions using GParted an give Windows 7 setup a try?

I would go to Start > Run, and type msconfig, and uncheck everything except your anti-virus program.

If you got Norton bundled I would suggest you uninstall that using

Norton Removal Tool
