Please try the following...

:info: Go to Start > All Programs and click on Startup.
Is there is a shortcut to the Music folder? If so, please delete it.

:info: If no luck, open Explorer, and click on: Organize > Folder and Search Options
At the folder Options prompt, click: View
Make sure the following is not checked: Restore previous folder windows at logon

:info: If none of the above work, please download SystemLook from one of the links below:

64-bit system:

Save the file to the Desktop
Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
Copy the content of the following code box into the open textfield:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Click the Look button to start the scan.
When finished, a Notepad window opens with the results of the scan.

Mike1957,

There is a setting "somewhere", that results in the Explorer pop-up. Finding that setting is another story.
The issue is not necessarily a malware problem.

Did you install any program recently, before posting in the forum about the pop-up?


Let's do some more searching in the Registry...

If this is the original Asus Factory preinstalled Win7 then that is the worst possible install of Win7 you can have. With Asus the bloatware is compounded by poorly written utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7.

I wouldn't waste any more time rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, but instead do what almost all tech enthusiasts do and Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Everything needed is provided to get and keep a perfect install. Delete all partitions during booted Custom Install.

if it bugs you that much... Plus, if you follow the steps gregrocker gives you, your computer will be runnin much faster than it is now. I can't speak for his specific instructions, but reinstalling a clean OS will improve performance by far
...But i wanna crack this problem, Just very curious what's causing it...

A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.

A log will pop up . Upload the rkill.txt log in your reply
