A problem I have been having for a few months. I can goto into windows explorer and see all of my folders and files like normal.
But when I am in any application and I select Open, the left side of the open panel screen will show the directory structure, but in the detail side of the panel, it is always blank. It will not show files or any sub folders no matter which folder on the left side of the sceen that I select. The only folder that will still display files and folders like normal within the open option is the 'Documents' folder.
The only way I can open any file in a applicaion is to goto Windows Explorer and find the file I want to open and double click the file and that will open it in the app that it should open it in. I can not open the file within the app using the 'open' option as I can not see the file.
This is the same issue if I am in Excel, wordpad, or even KEdit, etc.
The only way that I have had to fix this is to run a chkdsk process and select 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors'. I restart my pc and let this run over night and this will fix the problem for a few days but then it will come back and I will have to do it again. But the last few times I have done this it has not fixed the problem.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
