Windows help for Mac person

I have been 100% Mac for 25 years. I just bought a Windows device (Samsung Series 7 Slate) to do digital art. I feel like a fish out of water. For example, on the tabletpc forum everybody talks about something called "BIOS"; I have no clue what that is.

Is there any place on the internet to help people switching from Mac to Windows? Everytime I google "switch from Mac to Windows" or "moving from mac to pc", etc., I get the exact opposite of what I want -- pages for people switching from Windows to Mac! No kidding, just try it!

My next step will be to look for books written for Grandma about computers. But rather than wade through "how to turn on the computer", I was hoping there is some resource out there specifically for people from a Mac background trying to figure out all the system features in Windows.

I'm not sure how to access the BIOS on tablets. :(

The BIOS is used to initialise, identify and check all of the hardware on your computer (e.g. RAM, HDD, video card, etc.).
I believe that Mac's use EFI instead of BIOS.

Here is a Wikipedia link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS

When you start your tablet, do you get a screen with writing or maybe a Samsung logo?

On a Windows PC you normally press the "Del" or "F2" key, when you start your machine, to access the BIOS.
I have no idea how you do that on a tablet though (sorry).

It can take a couple of tries to get the timing right.
I usually just start my machine and keep the "Del" key pressed until the PC starts beeping.

WARNING
Incorrect BIOS settings can make Windows inaccessible (until you correct them).
Make sure that any instruction you follow, are for your computer/tablet.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

I don't really know if there are sites or books for what your looking for aside from those "Windows for dummies" books.

But I will say you have just tripped onto the BEST Window 7 help forum on the web, your best bet is to just ask questions on the forum and you will get answers and all the help you need!!

p.s. Why are you trying to get into the BIOS? Are you having a problem? If so tell us what it is and we can help.

I installed the stock 140mm case fan outside of case then installed the H70+ 1 of its 120mm fans inside case. Used the 2nd 120mm from the H70 to go in the Gpu tunnel.

Thx

Thanks, to you both! Yes, I was pleased to not give Apple my business after they blew it on the iPad (i.e. no pen digitizer).

No, I don't need to access BIOS, I was just giving an example of how Windows jargon sounds like Greek to me.

I have a download/install question though, but guess I should post a new thread for it...

Yes you should start a new thread for it (put it in the right category for it).

Good luck to you, and once again Welcome!
