Windows installer Error 1719

Thank you to all friends who participated in this topic.
Special thanks for TimStitt.
And a special thank you also for Flavius, who advised me in the end solved my problem with the installation of Office 2010

Hear Hear! I am also very grateful to Flavius. I had been trying for several weeks to install Office 2010 and Flavius' solution sorted it withn a few minutes.

I have tried all of the fixes listed here and still have the problem. I do not have a Windows Installer listed in the Services. Any help would be appreciated. Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit

Had same problem but proposed solutions didn't work

Hello everyone,

I had the exact same problem where any time I tried to install a program, I got the error message "windows installer service could not be accessed", but none of the fixes I found online worked.

After tons of trial and error and banging against the wall, here's how I fixed it:

1. I went into the windows registry to the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msiserver] path.

2. I changed the ImagePath value from "%SystemRoot%\system32\msiexec /V" to "C:\Windows\system32\msiexec /V"

3. I went into my windows services (services.msc) and stopped and started the Windows Installer Service. I also set it to start automatically.

4. I rebooted my computer.

5. Problem solved!

Essentially, for some reason or another, I had to hard-wire the path to the msiexec executable to the C:\ drive instead of using the dynamic %SystemRoot% variable, and that fixed it for me.

I have been bashing my head against the wall for a few weeks now. I get the dreaded error 1719 while trying to install Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. I have tried both fixes mentioned on this forum, importing the registry item as posted by Flavius and changing the root directory by TomChapin and still I get the error. Anybody have a fix before I go crazy?

Thank you so much man.....that actually worked, and you saved me from formating, backing up my data and all that!! THANK YOU

I got my computer fixed by running this program.

Repair MSI (Windows Installer)

It did not have any viruses, I did not have to pay anything. I just ran the program, restarted my computer, and like magic it began to install Lightroom 4 and install updates as normal.
