Hi All,
I hope someone can assist me with my problem. I have searched and cannot find a proper fix.
My system:
Asus P5E3 Deluxe x38
HIS RAdeon HD 4850
G.Skill DDR-3 4GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Windows Live 2009 (build 14.0.8089.726)
Microsoft LifeCam Cinema

Here is my problem;
I bought this webcam and installed it with no errors. Disabled firewall and antivirus before installing. I even tried disabling both and tried to use Windows Live video chat and it did not work.
When I try to video chat in Windows Live Messenger with a friend I can get their cam and no sound. They can get my sound but not my cam. My cam is showing on my side and when i go through the video and audio setup, everything is working properly. Both systems using same operating system.
I tried Yahoo messanger and it works perfect ..no problems at all. I installed Skype and it works perfect...no problems.
Can someone please tell me why Microsoft Software will not work with Microsoft Hardware?
I am about to give up on this and remove Live messanger completely. I can only search so much.
I would greatly appreciate some help with my problem. Surely someone else is experiencing this same problem.

Thanks

Thank you very much for your reply.
I downloaded the latest drivers/firmware and attempted to install them.
When I tried to install the Firmware I got the following message:
"Your computer already has the most up-to-date firmware".
When I tried to install the x64 driver 3.21.263.0 I got the following message:
" The current version of this software is already installed"

There seems to be no newer drivers available. I am hoping that it is only a setting or registry fix just to get the video to work in Windows Live.

Greatly appreciate any suggestions that may work.

Humm... well alot of ppl haveing trubble with drivers on win7.
The most of the times, when it does work, its the older drivers. Try to uninstall the driver and try some older.

Or searched, and did find this:
just login to your hotmail/msn live id online >> goto options >> under "manage your account" click on "View and edit your personal information" ..... then on the right side under "Common Tasks" click on "Edit Your Registered Information"
change your country's location to the current one.. OR even if it's right.. just use uk, america, australia (also give other information like state/postal code/city etc) >> because they won't allow u to view the webcam without advertisements... (which by the way, are from your region)

I stumbled on the fix that worked for me!!!!
While searching for information on your suggestions I found a link that had a file called " messstartsetup.exe " . It is generally meant to start WLM 2009 automatically but possible to fix other issues also. Worth a try :)
So I donwloaded it and installed it and restarted my computer and clicked on my son's msn name and the video opened up and we had video and sound.
Fixed for me ...now I can rest ...:)

I don't know if I would have found the fix if it were not for your suggestions.
I thank you and gonna add a REP point when i figure out where the rep button is lol

much appreciated
