Windows live email issue - any help?

I have had Windows Live Email for about a year now since I purchased a new Gateway computer with Windows 7. It has been fine with no issues until recently.

I am finding that people are not receiving my emails when I respond to them. However, most of the time, if I just send them a new email (not responding) they get it. I am trying to narrow down a "pattern" but there really isn't one. There have also been emails I have sent that have not been received, and also emails that have been sent to me that I haven't gotten. However I will receive emails...and I can send...but there are definite issues.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or have heard of issues like this with Windows Live? Is there anythjing I can check? I am out of ideas...

Thanks!!

What email provider are you using? I suspect it is more in the provider than windows live mail.

The first thing that I would check is that the "send to" is correct and in addition make sure that your own address is not in the send to.

Are you using Windows Live Hotmail or Windows Live Mail?

Well, that is not clear to me what the difference is.

Microsoft Hotmail does not seem to have much of a support. Yes, I heard what people stated: You get what you pay for - and if it's free - you don't get much of support.

With me, the option of creating a new folder disappeared.

I did use the online support. Send them a question. I did get an email response from MS Hotmail - and it was a standard response - "Just click on New Folder" or some such wording. Except THAT is my problem. I do not have that link in my Live Hotmail account. Many others on this board had already stated this to me. And thanks.

With this original post here, the user is 'missing' some emails.

I have given up on Window Live Hotmail - or whatever it is called. I have opened a gmail email account with the same user name and will switch to that email account for all my future emails.

Presently, I will attempt to place all my folders and emails for the Hotmail account onto a cd disk or flash drive - then use my gmail account. I will continue to keep my hotmail account by using it once per month. But I am done with Hotmail - whatever version I have.

And again, thanks to all that attempted to help me find my missing option of creating a New Folder.

There is a hugh difference. WLM is an application that runs on your PC which can create, download, and save email and also store contacts on your PC. In the past I've used Outlook Express, Windows Mail, and with Windows 7 I had to download the app from Microsoft as part of Windows Live Essentials. It's basically a tool to deal with traditional communications protocols like POP3, SMTP, IMAP, and NNTP.

OTOH Hotmail is 100% web based. It's a "service" provided on Microsoft Servers that allows you to view the stuff you allow MS to aggregate and save on their servers and then let you view it as a web page. This includes sent and received emails and contacts.

It's important that you specify what type of email (web based or local) your using so you'll get a useful answer to your questions.

Thank you. Mine must be web based. As I don't recall downloaded anything.

Do you have to be online to read mail, if so web based?
