Solved Windows Live Mail:Where is tools menu?

I want to use Rules in Windows Live Mail and for this I need the Tools menu, but I cannot see it, or a means of getting to it. I have seen references to using the centre of three icons to 'Show menu', but I don't see the icons.

I have attached a snip of what I see.

Hi Ken,

I think it you right-click on the top bar, a Tools menu appears........or maybe that was XP? I can't quite remember : give it a go.

Hi Golden

The right click resulted in 'Show quick access toolbar above the Ribbon and your second suggestion gave me a File type menu, but nothing that led to 'Tools'.

Bleh! Errrmmmm.......I'm sure I've done this before. Maybe it was in Mail. Let me research a bit more Ken.

The menu bar seems to have been taken out of Windows Live Mail 11 .... see here http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/116254-windows-live-mail-menu-bar.html

However, you can still use Rules ... see image.

The Tools button is alive and well in Windows Live Mail as here:

That is the 2009 version not the latest version which does not have the toolbar

I think at the tender age of 73 I have passed the stage of being a "kool kid". I don't really know what it is; I'm cold not cool at the moment but I think that has more to do with the weather than my persona

you can't please all the people all of the time. microsoft decided to introduce the ribbon because they thought it would be simpler for the masses to use.

what exactly are you having trouble with? maybe we can offer some help?

If your new live mail thing is better than previous mail thing, then I will eat my hat.

The so called ribbon contains mass's of stuff that I don't use and if it is possible to change, you have done a great job of hiding the facility to do so.
