When configuring Windows Media Center (Windows 7 Home Premium), and I take any action that requires Windows Media Center to scan the system for drives (Adding folders to the media libraries, setting TV recording storage drive), the system becomes unresponsive. The hard drive access light on the computer stays on constantly, and the computer fails to process any keyboard input (numlock/scroll lock/etc do not respond) and I am unable to bring up the task manager. This also means that at this point I am unable to provide any debugging information as I cannot access the system once it reaches this state.
My initial thought was that it was one of my disk drives failing (even though I had used both of them before running linux without any problems). After running diagnostics on both disk drives, I found no faults and so now I have to assume the fault lies in Windows Media Center.
What I am wondering, is if anyone else has experienced this problem, and if anyone has any ideas of how to gather debugging information when I am unable to access the system (maybe some logging option that I am unaware of).
Thanks in advance.
