Windows not genuine message plus Error message 0x8000247

Open Windows Explorer (Computer)
Navigate to the C:\Windows folder
Find the System32 sub-folder and right-click on it
select Properties

Clear the 'blob' from the 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)' box by clicking on it until it's plain white.
Click on Apply.

Make sure that the radio button for 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' is set, and click OK.

Accept the Administrator prompt. After a couple of seconds, you'll be told there is an error - click on the 'Ignore all' button.

Wait for it to finish - it could take a couple of minutes.

OK out, and exit Windows Explorer.

Reboot twice

Post a new MGADiag report.

Then open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command - this will create a log file, which may tell us what's going wrong (if anything) with the installation.

Hi Noel, I installed the new driver, but got the following when running the command:-

Any ideas?

You're correct, I didn't save it to the desktop! However, I now have and when I press 'enter' it looks for a second as if something is happening but then reverts to the command prompt.

That's the problem Noel, it isn't. I've also done a search for ismt.log and there's nothing.
However, and I don't know if it's relevant, I've just noticed that I have developed some text in the bottom LHS corner - above the time/date - which states:

This copy of Windows is not genuine'?

I think we've really exhausted the possibilities of the variants of the IMST/IRST drivers, so we'll have to switch to something else.
Unfortunately, we've already tried the only other known fix for this problem (renaming the Catroot2 folder) with no better success.
This means that I'm going to have to start a real hunt-and-peck troubleshoot in an effort to find out what's adrift.

Do you have any thoughts on Dwarf's suggestion in Post #8?
Am I wrong in thinking that a repair install would only lead to the same situation that we currently have as the HDD is different to that originally 'registered'?

What may give more detil is the system's response to the following....


(which achieves the object of reinstalling the Key anyhow, if needed)

Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

I suspect that the TrustedINstaller service is crashing - please open Event Viewer
In the left pane, navigate to teh Windows Logs
right-click on Applications and select 'Save all events as...' save as Apps.evtx
repeat for teh System logs - save as Sys.evtx
Compress both files, and attach to your reply.
