windows update prob.

when i try to check for updates it says unable to check because the service is not running it says to restart but it never works there is no errer code just an errer and a sfc scan fails at 59%.

if sfc scan fails it must be because of the files got corrupted or missing.. try to replace those system files or reinstall windows .. umm let me find the link for replacing the missing files..

Please follow the instructions in http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...4840-windows-update-posting-instructions.html and post the required data - whether SFC completes or not.
The error code it generates it recorded (usually) in the logs, and can tell us what's needed to fix it.
