Windows Update - reset but still stuck on "Checking for Updates"

Hi
I've been trying to set up a few second hand laptops for a charity youth club. One went without a hitch, one won't update Windows at all.

It's running Windows 7 SP1, I've tried various fixes but nothing seems to be working.

I've followed the instructions on the post. Attached is my CBS log zip file. I don't have any error codes as it just sits on "Checking for Updates".

Interestingly the first time I ran the SURT it just sat for over 8 hours on "Checking for Updates" as well. Second time, after a power down & reboot it did it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This was meant to be a quick favour & now turning into a long job!

Thanks

Nick

Thankyou Very much for curing this problem

hi,
I've been preparing a whole lot of windows 7 pro x64 dell computers for clients and have been fighting the
'NO UPDATES FOUND " forever !!! I've tried a whole lot of fixes and some work, most don't.

BUT, yours has worked every time I used it. (on 12 boxes now).. No waiting, no trying various fixes,,, Just
doing what you said, change the update settings, install the two KB files, check for updates and it works!!!!

Thanks for figuring this out, it makes my job a whole lot easier..,..

I appreciate your work and also appreciate you posting how to do it,,,, your the man !!!!!

thanks,

Bob
