Hello Sevenforums.

I have a Lenovo Z500 laptop which i got with windows 8 on it. Later i upgraded it to windows 10, but the performance seemed to be lacking after i updated. I therefore installed windows 7 ultimate SP1 on it, after i formated all the drives.
The installation went smoothly, though the drivers for several components like WAN and LAN had to be installed from a USB.

I then decided to run windows updates, but it dosn't get further than "searching for updates".
I read in another thread that the windowsupdate.txt might have some information to what is going on, but I do not know how to identify the problem from the data.

Also, when i tried to zip the windowsupdate.txt file, it said the drive was writing protected, and that i didnt have permission to create the .zip file, even though i am administrator.

I have attached a zip of the file, hopefully someone can help me resolve this problem, as I use this laptop for my edducation.

Regards,
FedtetLyn

I've tried the solutions, and it seems to reset the update fine, but it still dosnt find anything when searching. I've had it find 202 available updates, and thought that had done the trick, but then it just didnt download anything. The recurring error message listed in the windowsupdate.txt is 80070003, but the solutions for this has not worked either.

I tried combining several of the guides to fix my problem, and combining safe mode with the linked tutorials and manual removal of the softwaredistribution folder in /windows finally made it work. I have no idéa what set my case appart from others with a seemingly similar problem.

Thanks for the backup, much appriciated
