Windows XP to 7 question

well, ive only installed SOPHOS antivirus since i upgraded, and I can redownload that easy. everything else needs to be reinstalled since the prgram files arent enough to run the actual program. so this sounds like a good way to make sure everythings where it needs to be in my opinion

Not sure what you are asking.

Did you check if there actually is a restore point before you copied the files over?

Did you click on it and have the wizard determine which programs will need to be reinstalled?

i havent tried anything yet, thats why im asking if this is the best way to make sure all my files are where theyre supposed to be

If you have a restore point immediately after installing yes it will be just as if you just installed.

um, i tried to do the system restore but there was only one check point which was way after my upgrade. so what do I do? also, there was an update alert that said I should back up my files, should I just ignore it or will it go away when I back up my computer on my external hard drive?

Are you having performance problems?

Did you check the programs in Programs File against the installed Programs in Control Panel>Programs and Features. If it isn't in P&F or Start>All Programs then it is most likely not installed. You can post the list of these unfound Program Files back here before deleting them if you want us to take a look.

If you have a folder in Program FIles which you are not sure that you copied there and afraid to delete, then you can leave it there as it will not run anyway, just sit there.
