I don't know if this is where this thread belongs but, when windows starts winlogon.exe starts. Is there a way i can change this and put in another exe for example iexplore.exe(not that i will just an example) and make it auto start instead of users login screen?

If yes can you give step by step instruction?

Thanks -Davud

You cant begin to load user files until after you logon or how would the computer know which user it is? You have to go to logon first but can put any program you like in the startup folder, but be careful too many things in start up will slow your boot down.

Hello Davud, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could use the tutorial below to setup Windows 7 to automatically log on to a user account of your choice at startup.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/377-log-automatically-startup.html

Afterwards, you could add what you would like to have opened and run at startup for that user account in that user account's startup folder in the Start Menu. METHOD TWO in the tutorial below can help show you more details on this. As Ken pointed out above, be sure not to add to much or it will slow things down.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Well yes that was what i was asking for and if i cant change winlogon then let me ask this. i tried replacing explorer with another app that i made. and i did replace it but when i logged off and typed my password to log in it never ended loading... i could get past it by pressing ctrl + alt + del and then esc but i dont want to have to do that every time. cant i just make it that it opens my explorer.exe that i put instead of the orig?

Thanks -Davud

nope

nope im just trying to make it that explorer doesn't run and my 'virtual os' runs to make my system look unique instead of opening it at startup...

No Idea how to do that but you could cheat to make it look like you had achieved that.

Leaving your virtual OS to run at startup, setting a screen shot of your virtual OS's landing screen as the win7 desktop background and hiding all icons and the start menu for that win7 user account?

For more half assed ideas just ask!

A work in progress :) nice I like, it looks very Fedora like!

Doesnt that depend on explorer.exe or does it use the thinapp powershell?

Is the halt caused when you replace your explorer.exe with your KitroOS.exe infact a kitro fault or perhaps it's just loading before some of its dependencies are available?
See the 5th post in this Link for ideas how to start it last. Although it seems you may already know about this.

Another cheat idea would be to set the desktop background to a solid colour (the same as your login screen) and have the logo flash over it in another colour.

Anyway good luck, you really are taking customisation to the next level. I believe a personal computer should be just that, personal, and that shouldnt be limited to the desktop background.
