Is it some sort of clamp for 90 degree joints say as in picture frames or something?

Well, I think I should give it to you Jim. It is a clamp or mount but I doubt anyone will guess what for. It is a mount for a boat for a GPS map.

You're too kind, I know certain people who would have held out forever and a day, would probably have asked, what map did it hold, was it heavy, what other colours can you get it in.... lol:D
