Yes it is a X79 Sabertooth.
I never fool with the bios unless their is no other option. That seldom has to be done.
Hopefully all I have to do is install the board and run with it set to default and see what happens for about a week and then tinker.
They installed the little fan over the heat sink. So now I have 2 little fans.
It appears to be a RMA motherboard but not the same one I sent in and not new.
I will install it tomorrow and see what happens.

If I may make a suggestion, if possible. Don't install it inside a case, rather lay it on its box and connect everything with it outside, just in case it's a bad one.

That would be very difficult because I would have to undo all my cable routing to get them to reach the motherboard.
I will probably have to RMA at least one more time. Seem to work that way with Asus motherboards for me.

Up and running.
The bios is proper. I didn't have to do anything with them.
Updated all programs and Windows.
Had to reactivate Windows 7. No big deal.
Doing stress test of CPU and GPU now.
GPU temps max. 78C
Torture test Prime 95 max. 38C. (CPU stock clock 3.7) 30 min. Vcore 1.29 volts
Ambient temp 21C
All ram is seen by Windows 7 and all programs at 2332 Mhz.
Just started a Torture test at 4.250
So far things are okay.

Well that didn't last long.
Lost 16 gb of ram.
Bios only see 16 gb of the 32 gb.
Same with Windows and all programs.
Bios tell me C1, C2, D1, D2 are all abnormal. All on the right side of the CPU.
Swapped ram modules from the A1, A2, B1, B2 to the C1, C2, D1, D2, one at a time.
Example:
B2 to D2
B1 to D1 and so on.
C and D channels always stay abnormal.
I knew it was to good to be true.

Jack, does Windows report 16 or 32? How about CPUz?

I got a new Ivy-E setup the other day, I was messing with Ram timing and suddenly noticed the bios was only reporting half my ram but Windows and CPUz were showing the full amount. After getting the Ram timing right the bios suddenly found the other half.

Also are you overclocked? To test try going back to default on everything, and just set the Ram to 1600MHz and Auto for the timings. See if that makes any difference.

The programs I used were
Speccy, CPU-Z, Belarc, Windows 7, and the bios and they all only see 16 GB out of 32 GB. No over clock.
Yes I did try with the bios set at default and auto for the ram timing.
I never changed the ram timing what so ever on this board.
I tried the ram at various speeds after that with the same results.
I tried the bios at Normal and Asus optimize. I tried it with and with out hyper threading. With and without turbo boost.
I tried the ram volts at Auto, 1.65 volts and 1.67 volts no help.
I tried the ram using XMP 2400 with the same bad results.
I tried many more things I can't remember all of them.
Always got the same results with the bios (Tool Section) showing the same abnormal ram slots. All ram works in the good slots but none of the ram work in the abnormal slots.

In that case, man you are having some real shit luck!

I know you really dislike Asus boards, I have to say you must have had real bad luck to get some many bad ones.

My last 3 Asus Boards have been perfect, I had an old P8 P67 Evo, Z77 Sabertooth and now the new X79 Deluxe, all worked/working fantastic.

Sorry Jack, sounds like you are gonna have to send the board back again.

Is it running the latest bios? That's a last resort really.

You know I mentioned before about older boards for the original Sandy E chips, the Sabertooth is also one of them, I would have liked a Sabertooth myself, in fact it was cheaper than my Deluxe but I wanted a board that was designed from the start for Ivy E so I would not run into any problems.

Maybe if you can, try and get a Deluxe as a replacement, the new version of the Deluxe that is.

Just got some news.
The wholesaler states that that problem is the ram is 2400 speed and the specs of the motherboard show 1866 as the fastest.
I told him B/S.
If I set the 2400 to 1600/1866 the ram should work if the speed was the problem.

My friend is going to bring over a bunch of 1600 ram tomorrow and we will give it a try.
It looks like I'm going to have to eat this motherboard.
I'm using Gskill ram. Many have use it without a problem.
All the ram works in the good motherboard ram slots and not in the bad ram slots. I just can't believe its a ram problem.
When I looked up the motherboard it did include the Ivy-E CPU to the best of my memory. Now when I look online it just states 2nd generation.

Jack, I am running a Z77 Sabertooth and the specs say the board only supports up to 1866 ram. My G Skill Trident X is running just fine at 2400MHz. Paul had the same board and runs the same ram I have at 2400 as well as many others. Asus has had a lot of trouble with that board and Ivy-E CPUs hasn't it? To the best of my knowledge, there is no difference in Dual Chanel ram and Quad Channel. It is only how the board handles it. I have Trident X 2400MHz running on a dual channel Z77 board. Paul has the same ram running at the same speed on an Ivy-E quad channel board.

I understand you all have had great luck with that ram.
That is why I chose the ram. That ram works for everybody else with all kinds of motherboards it should work for me.
You are correct. The ram takes care of the ddr 3 thing and the motherboard takes care of the channel thing.
The first motherboard had 2 bad memory slots on the left side of the cpu and this motherboard has 4 bad slots to the right of the cpu. Same ram.
The wholesaler seem to imply if the ram isn't one the qvl list it can't work.

Is the ram you use 1.5v or 1.65v?
On this board I have tried all kinds of volts and auto and it doesn't seem to mater.

My Intel Dealer wants me to look at Gigabyte motherboard. He has been using them because Intel is getting out of the motherboard business. Everything I find is 1.5v ram.
All he builds are stock computers mostly for business and governments agency's.

The Trident X is 1.65V. Look at the sticker on the sides of the sticks, it gives the timings and voltage at spec. 10-12-12-31- 1 or 2T @ 1.65V. It should run at 2400 MHz at those timings and voltage. Personal Opinion I know a lot of people here like Gigabyte, I'm not one of them, I prefer Asus. I know Asus support is bad, from experience. But, tell me who has good customer service, it's simply a fact of life. I can assure you Gigabyte's customer service is no better than Asus', MSI or Asrock. My experience with Asus is you either get a very good board or a dud. There is very little in between. If you get a good Asus board, it will beat most anything on the market. As Paul said, most of the 2011 boards were made for sandy Bridge-E. A bios update allowed them to run Ivy-E. There were only a very few boards made especially for Ivy-E. With Asus, as far as I know, they are the Deluxe and the X79 Black. Same with all the other companies if they have boards made for Ivy-E. The Asus Black is extremely expensive, $500. But, it is the everything but the kitchen sink version. It comes with some pretty amazing stuff that no other board I know of even has.

With all the research I did I thought I found a good combination of hardware. I have no Idea what the next hell step is going to be after we install some 1600 ram.

I can't even run a WEI it stops at the ram part and gives a warning that it can't go farther.
