XP mode

I just completed installing win7 rc1 and installed
thn i installed virtual pc to try out xp mode

after everything installed and ready to boot up it gives me this error..

how would i fix it

Win7 is installed on HP DV6000

Hi lie07,

you have to enable virtualization in your BIOS.

Here is a tutorial on setting up virtual windows xp mode.

It may not. Please post or fill out your computers specifications in your UserCP, including the motherboard and cpu type.

Real easy to check
Run this program -- It's the VMWARE 64 Bit guest check -- OK Why VMWARE for a W7 problem -- it's OK since this simply checks that the VT feature in your CPU is working or enabled.

If you get the message This sytem supports a 64 bit Guest your system will also work on Windows XP compatability mode.

Note to run this you DON'T need to have vmware installed or even install the program. Just unzip the program and run it from any location -- no admin rights etc needed.

Thanks for the heads up! jimbo45 Now I wouldn't have to reboot once the 64bit XP mode is ready to see if everything is all set in the bios.

how's about using the site's own uploading, instead of freeimagehosting? It takes forever for your images to fully load, resulting in the page loading excessively long.

That would save a bit of time as well if I knew where the option is! It takes a bit of time just to upload onto the upload page there and then post it.

Well a look now shows how the XP mode looks while being booted in 7. I don't thing we went too far off.

Back again this time from.... XP? or rather XP mode. Once installed the XP mode came to life fast with the virtualization already enabled here.

That's precisely what you need to see there. That simply means you can download and install both Virtual Machine and the XP mode items and they should immediately go on and run.

The screens posted earlier other then the particular background on one show just how that will look during the install and when the XP mode starts up to a large window with the basic XP Pro desktop seen.

i got it what you guys trying to say but i get that BIOS error whnever i try to start Virtual XP

Until you have Intel's Virtualization Extensions or AMD's AMD-virtualization running on your system ***from the BIOS*** you will not be able to run XP in Virtual XPM.

If you are not sure if your machine / BIOS supports it you should find out from your laptop manufacturer. If it does support it but only with a BIOS upgrade, you *will* have to perform the upgrade.

You also have to have both the Virtual Machine and XP mode installed before it will work. The XP mode requires the Virtual PC beta be present. The message shows that you shouldn't have to touch anything in the bios at this point unless running into any problems. Then you refer to the steps seen in the tutorial.

When seeing the VM ware message here both went and run as if they had already came with the RCs. The message confirms the model cpu you are running does have virtualization support however for the positive note there.
