Hi Gareth,
I figured it out.
On the drive we added your username and that made all the folders have your username and that is what we wanted, so your access problem is solved.
The locks are there because the previous owner was "everyone" an account with diminished rights.
the only thing left to do is rightclick your d drive again and add the everyone account again. Make sure you don't any extra rights to it but the defaults it sets itself.
After adding it, click ok, and wait until the process finishes.
Now the lock are gone.
