Laptop won't boot fully after battery drain

Tried a following this troubleshoot: Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program
My computer froze up at the same point as when I was full booting.

Are you still using the battery?Have you tried taking off the battery and booting up only with the cable?
What's your laptop's brand/model?

This tutorial will show the steps, including downloading a W7 iso file you can burn to a disc or USB flash drive.

I'd honestly rather that be the last resort. Is there any way to check for other hardware issues? I think it might be a graphics card issue.

It very well could be your video card, you said in a earlier post there was no problems using safe mode.

Have you had a recent driver update? You could uninstall the card and let Windows install it again and find the drivers, or just download the drivers from Dell. A new card would be big $$$!

I downloaded the driver from dell (made sure it was the right one, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870), but when I was trying to run the installer, it said "Failed to load detection driver".

Mate have you got the right graphics quoted ATI Mobility? Radeon HD 5870? as I cannot find any drivers for that HD 5870 except the desktop PCI variety!

Hum strange cos when I Google that device it gives me a desktop plug in card

Anyway that ref did you download it from there?

Another thought was did this start to happen after a Windows update? if so why not try a system restore?

This is what I was going off of with the driver, and where I tried downloading a new one. I don't know when the last update was, I'm thinking Windows Update is one of those nixed services when in safe mode. The driver was from Drivers & Downloads | Dell United States

Hum now I found this ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 - NotebookCheck.net Tech so there is a HD 5870 inside.

Now the thing that is puzzling me is why that Dell driver list has three for AMD including a BIOS one and also one for NVidia?

Now having seen remarks that the BIOS should be updated with great caution did you do all three of those driver updates?

2 weeks and it still won't boot up. Should I try the other drivers for my video card? I'm reluctant to do a chkdsk /f, as that's the last thing I did before it completely died the last time.
I can't get any work done, I can't edit my resume to apply to a new job, I can't do much other than say what I can't do.

Running a scan now. I'll post back with the findings.

Ran the scan. Didn't know how to post its findings, so I typed it all out in Notepad. It's recommending a /F scan, but again, that's what seemed to frag my last hard drive.

I'd do the install, but I don't want to delegate my computer to FUBAR status. I'm going to have a chat with my parents, and see if I can send it in to somebody who professionally knows what they're doing (read as: not me). I was wondering if I should send it into Dell or see if Best Buy could help. I've sent it into Dell before, and they've even had a tech come out and work on it. I don't know if it's that it's turning into a Frankencomputer, or if it's something I'm doing unknowingly, but it keeps breaking down on me. I'm definitely thinking about saving up to buy myself a new laptop.
I'm going to do a 100% copy and paste of my C:\ to my portable hard drive, just in case they need to nuke it or replace it.
