My laptop hard drive died in January 2013. I took it in to a local computer store where the hard drive was replaced and restored from the boot disks. My files were reloaded from a back-up created on my WD Passport External HD. The same day I picked it up I started experiencing the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (BSOD). I took it back in to them and all they said was it was a driver issue and it probably won't happen again. It has continued to happen; at first intermittently and now more consistently when trying to go into sleep mode.
I have read over a lot of the different threads and see that it could be a variety of issues. There was a Consumer IR device flagged in the Device Manager so I uninstalled and reinstalled the corresponding Windows update and that problem has been resolved but the BSOD is still happening. Nothing else is flagged in the device manager.
Please HELP! I just don't know what else to check.

I think I managed to figure it out anyway by right clicking and selecting "Scan for hardware changes", then it did its thing and installed the new driver...at least I think it was the new driver.
